This code list is used in association with the Description attribute which is present within the Water Point Feature Type. The code list describes the type of interaction at a water point (for example, culvert entrance).

The entrance or exit to a pipe or conduit for the flow of water under the ground.

The entrance or exit to a pipe or conduit for the flow of water under the ground that also acts as an Issues (the source of a stream or river).

Culvert Entrance And Outfall

The entrance or exit to a pipe or conduit for the flow of water under the ground that is coincident with an Outfall.

Culvert Entrance And Spring

The entrance or exit to a pipe or conduit for the flow of water under the ground that is coincident with a Spring.

Ford

A location where a road, track or path passes through a watercourse which for at least some part of the year passes over and/or along the communication route.

Issues

The source of a stream which is a natural emission from an agricultural drain, or where the stream re-emerges from underground. Please see also Culvert Entrance As Issues.

A Well commemorating a person or event.

Mineral Spring

A place where water, containing mineral deposits, naturally wells up from below the ground.

Sinks

A natural hole, shaft or funnel shaped hollow where a stream disappears underground.

Source Of Watercourse

The origin to which a river or stream may be traced.

Spring

A place where water naturally wells up from below the ground. OR A place where water naturally wells up from below the ground, being of historical interest.

Spring As Source Of Watercourse

A place where water, containing iron, naturally wells up from below the ground that is the origin to which a river or stream may be traced.

Tidal Ford

An established surface part of a tidal or inter tidal area that extends from one area above MHW(S) to another that can be used as a crossing point for pedestrians and/or vehicles.

Waterfall

A steep fall of river or stream water, where its course is markedly and suddenly interrupted, that extends for less than 2.0m.
